Can you beat trevor?

Hey Sportsfans, it's one of the best
times of the year: College Football
Bowl Season! We have our own
specialist here at Convina that has the
lowdown on each bowl game over the next 3 weeks as well as his pick to win. Trevor is very passionate about sports and is excited for this year's games. Upsets, great games, and yes, even a challenge. Post a comment with your picks for each bowl game and try and beat TJ. If you beat him, Trevor will personally buy you a college T-Shirt of your team and send it to you. Pressure's on...

Dec
New Mexico Bowl
Fresno State vs. Wyoming @4:30 pm EST
Although both teams had a fairly tough out of conference schedule, Fresno State hung with most of those big opponents including #3 Cinci, #6 Boise St. and a decent Wisconsin team. I pick Fresno State over Wyoming.
St. Petersburg Bowl
UCF vs. Rutgers @8:00 pm EST
UCF and Rutgers are coming off pretty good seasons considering both have had a fairly tough schedule. UCF has been on fire the past 4 weeks with only 1 loss to the #2 team in the nation and Rutgers have been less impressive with 2 wins and 2 losses including 1 from a struggling Syracuse team. I pick UCF to beat Rutgers.
Sun
20
Dec
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Southern Miss vs. Middle Tennessee State @8:30 pm EST
To both teams' credit, I haven't seen them play a whole lot. This one looks like a dog fight with 2 teams that match up very well. I pick Middle Tennessee State.
Tue
22
Dec
Maaco Bowl Las Vegas
No.18 Oregon State vs. No.14 BYU @8:00 EST
BYU had the potential for busting the BCS but had a very disappointing season. Oregon St. comes off a huge loss against Oregon for a chance to play in the Rose Bowl. Oregon State has a lot of balance and a consistent QB. BYU has struggled on the offensive and defensive side and hasn't shown a lot of consistency. Oregon State is too physical for BYU. Beavers over the Cougs.
Wed
23
Dec
Poinsettia Bowl
No.23 Utah vs. Cal @8:00 EST
Utah is rebuilding after a great season last year and Cal is coming off a heartbreaking season when they were picked by many to win the Pac 10. Jahvid Best is expected to return for this game but we'll see how long he'll last against a swarming Utah defense. Utah beats Cal.
Thu
24
Dec
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
Nevada vs. Southern Methodist @8:00 EST
Nevada, for the most part, dominated their conference except for Boise St. but didn't do too much in non-conf play. Southern Methodist struggled and lost a few close games. Nevada's found their groove and they'll go on to beat Southern Methodist.
Sat
26
Dec
Little Caesars Bowl
Marshall vs. Ohio @1:00 pm EST
Haven't watched these 2 teams a whole lot, but Ohio was in every game that they played. Marshall has struggled all season and it will carry over to this game. Ohio wins.
Meineke Car Care Bowl
No.17 Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina @4:30 pm EST
These are 2 very tough teams. The difference? Dion Lewis. The freshman running back for Pittsburgh is as advertised, AMAZING! Pitt also has the consistent Bill Stull at QB to lead their offense. They run it right at you and are physical. Pittsburgh overpowers North Carolina.
Emerald Bowl
Boston College vs. No.24 USC Trojans @8:00 pm EST
Both teams have struggled this year and have had tough seasons, but USC is a great program and has great coaching. USC goes on to win.
Sun
27
Dec
Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl
Kentucky vs. Clemson @8:30 EST
Both teams are coming off decent seasons but just couldn't close out their last few games. Clemson has a very special player with C.J. Spiller and he'll be the difference in this game. Clemson beats Kentucky.
Mon
28
Dec
Advocare v100 Independence Bowl
Georgia vs. Texas A&M @5:00 pm EST
The Aggies are too inconsistent and Georgia is coming off a big win against their rival, Georgia Tech. That isn't an easy task. Georgia beats Texas A&M.
Tue
29
Dec
Eaglebank Bowl
UCLA vs. Temple @4:00 pm EST
UCLA didn't show up at all this year in conference play. Temple had a great season considering a couple of losses from some pretty good teams including Penn St. I pick the Owls to beat the Bruins in this matchup with Bernard Pierce leading the way.
Champs Sports Bowl
No.15 Miami (FL) vs. No. 25 Wisconsin @8:00 pm EST
Both teams have had their ups and downs but they both bring a lot of offense to this matchup. Jacory Harris is one of the best QBs in the nation and he's only a sophomore. I look for him to settle down and lead Miami to a W. Miami beats the Badgers.
Wed
30
Dec
Roady's Humanitarian Bowl
Bowling Green vs. Idaho @4:30 pm EST
This will be a barn burner. Neither defense can really stop anybody. This will come down to who scores first and who scores last. Bowling Green wins.
Pacific Life Holiday Bowl
No.20 Arizona vs. No.22 Nebraska @8:00 pm EST
I have watched both of these teams play and this is a great matchup. Nebraska's stifling defense versus Arizona's great offense. It comes down to who makes the big plays. Ndamukong Suh will be making big plays on defense and the Cornhuskers come away with this one.
Thu
31
Dec
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
Houston vs. Air Force @12:00 pm EST
Both teams have had very good seasons. Air force lost a lot of close games as did Houston. Houston’s offense has been torching defenses all year and Case Keenum for Houston is going to make it rain. Houston beats Air Force.
Brut Sun Bowl
Oklahoma vs. No.21 Stanford @2:00 pm EST
Stanford had a few letdowns towards the end of the season and Oklahoma’s national title hopes were shattered with Bradford’s shoulder. Stanford’s Toby Gerhart was second in the running for the Heisman and a stud. Stanford will run right at Oklahoma and they'll be just too physical for the Sooners. Stanford wins.
Texas Bowl
Navy vs. Missouri @3:30 pm EST
Navy is coming off a big win against rival Army and has had a pretty decent season with a few close losses. Missouri, on the other hand, has let us all down in every big game they’ve played this season. Navy wins a close one behind the legs and arm of Ricky Dobbs.
Insight Bowl
Minnesota vs. Iowa State @6:00 pm EST
Minnesota has not won a single big game this season and has lost a few to struggling teams. Iowa St. hasn’t been much better besides their win over Nebraska. Minnesota beats Iowa St.
Chick-Fil-A Bowl
No.11 Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee @7:30 pm EST
I’ve followed both of these teams quite a bit this season and they’ve been very interesting to watch. Tennessee is tough on defense and seems to have found a little fire power on offense. Virginia Tech is another big defensive team and has a great running back with freshman Ryan Williams. The QB play will be a big factorin this decision as well as who has the least amount of turnovers. Tennessee, as a program, has a lot of media and added pressure which distracts them from playing the game. Virginia Tech beats the Vols.
Fri

Jan
Outback Bowl
Northwestern vs. Auburn @11:00 am EST
These are 2 great teams that have had some big wins and have played very tough. Northwestern had a big win over Iowa and Auburn has a big offense that can put up a lot of points. Chris Todd and this high powered "O" is just too much for Northwestern. Auburn wins.
Konica Minolta Gator Bowl
No. 16 West Virginia vs. Florida State @1:00 pm EST
Florida State still doesn’t have that tough Nowles’ defense and West Virginia is so balanced on offense. This will be a shootout but Noel Devine and the Mountaineers will take it. WV over the Nowles.
Capital One Bowl
No.13 Penn State vs. No.12 LSU @1:00 pm EST
Two great teams with very good seasons. The difference? Schedules. Penn St. lost to Iowa and Ohio State, 2 big powers in the Big 10 and LSU dropped games to Florida and Alabama, two very tough teams in the top 5, but they also lost to Mississippi. This will be a battle, but with Penn State’s balanced offensive attack from Daryll Clark and Evan Royster, the Nittany Lions beat the Tigers.
Rose Bowl
No.8 Ohio State vs. No.7 Oregon @4:30 pm EST
Up and down for both teams. Ohio State is back in another big bowl game but they are 0-3 the past 3 years and have a tough team to face this year. It comes down to Oregon’s offense vs. Ohio State’s defense. The Buckeyes are always sound on the defensive end but will have to go up against the Ducks' speed. Jeremiah Masoli has been brilliant the past few games along with LaMichael James, the freshman running back that is tearing apart defenses. Terelle Pryor has been inconsistent all season but has played well the last 4 or 5 weeks. Ohio State just doesn’t have the offense to keep up with Oregon. The Ducks beat the Buckeyes to hand them their 4th straight bowl game loss.
Allstate Sugar Bowl
No.5 Florida vs. No. 3 Cincinnati @8:30 pm EST
What a dream season it’s been for Cincinnati, and what a clutch game they had against Pittsburgh to keep their perfect season alive. But now they come to Florida, one of the top teams in the country that only lost to #1 Alabama. Tim Tebow and company are looking for someone to take out all their anger on, and Cincinnati is just that team. Cinci will be playing their biggest game in school history against a very tough Florida squad. To make things worse, they just lost their head coach to Notre Dame who won't be on the sidelines. Florida is too much for the Bearcats.
Sat

Jan
International Bowl
South Florida vs. Northern Illinois @12:00 pm EST
Both teams had a lot of potential in their conferences, but they weren’t able to close the games they needed to. The Big East is tougher than the MAC and South Florida has had a tougher non-conf schedule than the Huskies. I see South Florida getting back on track with a win over Northern Illinois.
PapaJohns.com Bowl
South Carolina vs. Connecticut @2:00 pm EST
Connecticut has had a tough season. They were right there in a very competitive conference. Every loss they had was by 4 points or less. The last 3 weeks of the regular season were all wins, including a motivating win against Notre Dame in OT. South Carolina on the other hand has been up and down all season. They sometimes win big, sometimes lose big, and then squeak out a few. UConn beats the Gamecocks.
AT&T Cotton Bowl
No.19 Oklahoma State vs. Mississippi @2:00 pm EST
Both teams had high hopes this season but they didn't quite pan out. Ole Miss was ranked #4 at one time, but dropped 4 too many games. And in all of the big games that Oklahoma St. needed to win, they were drilled. This will come down to the QB play and who makes the least mistakes. I love Zach Robinson and he'll lead the Cowboys to a victory. OK St. over Ole Miss.
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Arkansas vs. East Carolina @5:30 pm EST
East Carolina had a great year, but they didn’t win any big non-conf games. Arkansas had a tough season, but they’re also in the toughest conference in college football. They started playing a lot better towards the end of the year and gave LSU a run for their last game. The Hogs beat East Carolina.
Valero Alamo Bowl
Michigan State vs. Texas Tech @9:00 pm EST
Michigan St. was almost there in the Big 10, but lost a few big games. Texas Tech has the offense but are a little inexperienced and don't have a lot of defense. Taylor Potts and company will overpower the Spartans with points. The Red Raiders win it.
Mon

Jan
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
No.6 Boise State vs. No.4 TCU @8:00 EST
I have nothing really bad to say about either of these teams. If I had it my way, Boise St. would be playing Cinci and TCU would be playing Florida, they both deserve to play with one of the big dogs, but then again, I’m still praying for a playoff. All that aside, these are two teams that match up great. Boise State is one of the best coached teams in the nation and is very efficient on offense. TCU is fast, physical, and will hit you in the mouth. Their defense fires up this team and they have been rolling teams. Boise St. has a stout "D" and has been holding its own along with TCU’s offense, which is very physical and runs first. This will be a great game to watch and I’m on the Kellen Moore wagon. I like Boise State to beat the Horned frogs in a great game.
Tue
5
Jan
FedEx Orange Bowl
No.10 Iowa vs. No.9 Georgia Tech @8:00 pm EST
If Ricky Stanzi doesn't get hurt, who knows where Iowa would be right now? Georgia Tech has shown that they are one of the best teams in the country with an efficient game controlling option offense. Iowa's defense has been strong all year but they need some help from their offense. Without much of a run threat and their backup QB, I just don't see that happening, but they are a very well rounded team considering special teams. Georgia tech makes you play assignment football and they don’t make many mistakes. Once you cheat and come up on the run, they're going deep on you for a touchdown. Georgia Tech's offense controls the game and unless Iowa disrupts that, they’ll win this game. I choose the Yellow Jackets to beat Iowa.
Wed
6
Jan
GMAC Bowl
Central Michigan vs. Troy @7:00 pm EST
If you take away losses from Arizona and BC, Central Mich. goes undefeated. Troy had a tougher non-conf schedule playing against Florida and Arkansas, but both of these teams are very good and it will be a good game to watch. Central Michigan beats Troy behind the arm and legs of Dan LeFevour.
Thu

Jan
CITI BCS National Championship Game
No.2 Texas vs. No. 1 Alabama @8:00 pm EST
Two great teams come head to head. Mark Ingram leading the Tide and Colt Mccoy for the Longhorns. Alabama has a great rushing attack with its Heisman winner along with a great defense that puts a lot of pressure on opponents. Texas has a high powered offense lead by Colt Mccoy and Jordan Shipley with a fast, scrambling defense. This will come down to who makes the big plays. The National Champs are the Longhorns!

So here are the rules with the contest. You have to beat me overall on picks - that means the person with the best overall record wins. Just enter a list of which teams you expect to win. Because prizes are coming out of my own pocket - if more than one person beats me, I'll recognize all winners, but I'll only be buying a T-Shirt for the top dog. May the best man (or woman) win!
