We’re proud of our USA Team. It’s been enjoyable to watch the different events and admire the athletes for their talent. While most of us in the office have never done more than own a snowboard let alone make it down the mountain in one piece, we can still dream.
Manon – Ultimate Tubing – There must be something exhilarating about dragging behind a snowmobile at speeds up to 50 mph attempting to knock off an adjacent opponent from his/her tube. Manon boasts a no-injury record since 2005.
Trevor – The Ski Jump – The ski jump is one of those sports where only the gluttons of danger participate in. The record jump is longer than two football fields. If anyone in the office had the guts to do this it would definitely be Trevor. We’ll be there to pick up his pieces if something goes amiss.
David – Sled Dog Race – Dave isn’t talking about a little loop around the mountain on a sled, the man wants to do a couple hundred miles. I’ve watched too many sled dog movies to want to do that.
Quinn – Curling – “I’ve seen men in their fifties still on Olympic Curling Teams. If I can make it to the Olympics now until I’m 55, I’ll have 8 chances to win a gold medal. And in those 30 years of training I’ll hopefully learn something to be good enough to win one.” Seems like decent logic.
Andrea – Boots – Yep. Boots. She has bought 9 pairs of boots in the last 3 months. That equals to about 1 pair a week. Some call it irrational; others call it passion. Passion is what every Olympian must have to succeed. Andrea is definitely an Olympian by definition.
Caleb – Speed Skating – Why? “So I could learn 1) How to ice
Jake – Typing – Jake really has a talent that he wants to show off. Typing. Does 108 WPM mean anything to you? It means that he could type all of the words in a standard dictionary in about 38 hours. Anyone want to challenge him on that? He might win the gold by default…
Some of Convina’s favorites this Olympic season are Shaun White and the halfpipe, snowboard cross, the ski jump, the skeleton, and curling. Catch up on all of the events at http://www.nbcolympics.com.
